Calendars

Not only does Alexa do calendar basics (“Alexa, what’s the date today?), but it also has a pretty nice feature that lets you add events to your personal Google, MS Office, or Apple calendar, with nothing but a voice command.

Basic calendar functions
Check the date Alexa, What’s the date?
What day is…? What day of the week is [Jan 12, 1984] [Christmas this year]
Check holiday dates Alexa, when is [holiday] this year?
Check historical dates What day was Abraham Lincoln born on?
What day of the week was Sept 11, 2001?

Personal calendar functions

If you use Google calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Office 365, or Apple iCloud calendars, you can integrate your personal or business calendar with Alexa as well.

Setup
To use your calendar, you must first connect your calendar inside the Alexa app. Go into “Settings” in the app, scroll down and select “Calendar”. Choose the calendar service that you use and follow the instructions to link that calendar. Now you can use these additional features:

Checking for events on the calendar

Alexa, what’s on my calendar? (she lists off the next four events + more)
Alexa, what’s on my calendar for Tuesday?

Adding events to the calendar

Alexa, add “Get a haircut” to my calendar. (She responds: “Got it. What day and time?”)
Alexa, add “Lunch with Doug” at noon to my calendar.

Removing events from the calendar

You can’t do that from Alexa yet. You have to go to your calendar and delete things like you normally do.

(Also be aware that anyone who has access to your Alexa devices will also have access to your calendar.)
